Welcome to our completely new website - rebuilt after 25 years online!
For over 30 years we have been buying and selling vintage radios, TVs, gramophones, telephones, cylinder phonographs and classic Hi-Fi equipment, as well as broadcast video and audio equipment from microphones to studio control room desks and cameras. We also buy items to keep for hire stock- mainly studio equipment and TV sets.
Over 8,000 historic items have passed through our hands with price tags ranging from a few pounds to over £10,000.
"With a lifetime of interest in radio and television, Director Steve Harris has built up a reputation for accurate descriptions, fair prices for both buying and selling, and a customer-friendly attitude. "
We don't sell items directly from this website, or use on-line auction sites. We prefer to discuss requirements and stock with customers first- every item we sell is unique. We do sometimes have a selection of currently available items on our blog page- see link below.
Our main sales medum is the printed catalogue/magazine Airwaves. Please enquire using the button below. We have found that these days many collectors prefer pieces in the most original condition, (in some cases restoring items actually reduces their value), so now we do not usually get involved in restoration work.
Of course, many pieces have come from collections, so may have been restored in the past. We will give an opinion on the quality of such work, but maintain that nothing beats making a personal inspection, so if possible, we can reserve an intended purchase, then you can come and see for yourself before buying.
Due to experience in the past with parcel carriers, we tend as a rule not to send items of value by this method. We do use known couriers who are experienced in single vehicle transportation of delicate objects; quotation for these services depends on logistics and can vary. We will try to get the best deal available for purchasers- this sort of transport depends on the total distance travelled, plus any consolidation with other loads, rather than necessarily on the size or weight of the consignment.
We are always interested in buying individual items or collections. Unfortunately many items, even if of interest to some collectors, are of low value, and the work involved in moving, storing and selling such items may mean that we choose not to offer. But unless you know exactly what you have (not always the case, especially when dealing with the collection of a deceased relative), we will be happy to advise, make realistic, firm offers if appropriate, or recommend alternatives. Just get in touch by clicking the email button below. Remember it helps to send pictures, and to say at least roughly where the items are located.
